The Tools for Assessment and Improvement of Neurological Outcomes program has a purpose to fund research conducted to develop tools and technology simplifying diagnosis, intervention, and outcomes for pregnancies and infants with known neurologic disease or high-risk infants. Specific areas of interest include but are not excluded to:

  • Fetal neural integrity assessment
  • Assessment and monitoring of intrapartum neurologic
  • Neuroprotective resuscitation tools
  • New monitoring and delivering hypothermic neural rescue methods
  • New improvement strategies for neurologic function in infants affected with neurologic conditions
  • Non-invasive or minimally invasive neurologic function assessment tools
  • Tools and methods for screening special sensory systems
  • Assessment tools and methods for integrity of autonomic nervous system

Studies from concept to development phases may be awarded with the goal of developing marketable technologies that may be used in a typical clinical setting. Phase I projects may not exceed $150,000 over a 6 month duration and Phase II project awards do not typically exceed $1,000,000 over a two year duration.
