The Safe and Effective Instruments and Devices for Use in Neonatal and Pediatric Care Settings program is open to fund research to develop new devices and instruments to improve existing monitoring and treatment devices and instruments for newborns and children safely and efficaciously. Major topics include but are not excluded to:
- Cardiovascular
- Pulmonary
- Hematologic
- Neurological
- Metabolic
- Kidney/Genitourinary
- Infections
- Hearing, speech, and swallowing functions
Phase I awards typically are granted for $150,000 or less and Phase II projects may receive up to $1,000,000 with the possibility of a 50% increase in funds upon approval of congress over a two year period. Applicants are encouraged to contact the NIH prior to submitting any application in excess of the guidelines. All applicants must meet the following criteria.
