The National Collaborative for Bio-Preparedness is a continuation of the program supporting developing a comprehensive statewide system for analyzing public health trend and detecting incidents that may threaten homeland security. These efforts are in part to achieve the goals of National Preparedness to build and improve efforts to prevent, protect, mitigate, respond, and recover from threats with the greatest risk to National Security. Priority is given to:

  • Pathogens posing particular bioterrorism
  • Emerging infectious, highly disruptive diseases
  • Highly disruptive animal diseases and plant pathogens
  • Bioterrorist contamination of food supply and water systems.

Main project objectives for this opportunity include:

  • Functional NCBP systems to be operated, maintained, and improved upon.
  • DHS, OHS collaboration
  • NCBP geographic footprint expansion
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and employ surveillance, health-related information systems and sensors engaged in bio-surveillance

Over $2 million is available for allocation to be extended for 12 months. Funding is excluded to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. There are no cost sharing requirements. Applications should include:
