The purpose of the New Technologies for Viral Hepatitis STTR program is to fund the research of prevention, care, and treatment of viral hepatitis within participating institutes. Ideal research objectives include but are not excluded to:

  • Development of point-of-care rapid screening test that can be used to screen for acute or chronic hepatitis
  • Development of new diagnostic tests
  • Development of non-invasive and practical tests used for monitoring chronic viral hepatitis
  • Development of hepatitis therapies
  • Development of genetics test to help in patient management of viral hepatitis

Funds typically do not exceed $150,000 for Phase I projects and $1,000,000 for Phase II projects; however, budgets may be increased up to 50% with Congress approval.
