The Science and Technology Projects Related to Coal Mining and Reclamation program is designed to help design and implement regulatory technology programs for states and tribes. In effort to achieve this goal the NTTT collaborates with technology transfer professionals to:
- Identify and recommend OSMRE technology opportunities
- Coordinate national technology development and transfer activities
- Ensure planning initiatives fully address the needs of the regions and directorates supporting the OSMRE’s missions, goals and strategic plan
- Identify analyze requirements, projects and issues providing recommendations for change and improvement
- Develop a better understanding of technology development and transfer
Awarded funds may not exceed $200,000. Applicants may be required to fulfill cost share requirements depending upon the OSMRE grade given to the application. Priority will be given to proposals with:
- The most value to SMCRA programs
- Technical merit of the project
- Level of external financial support
- Technology transfer plans
Faxed proposals are not accepted. Proposals must:
- Support activities in an OSMRE region
- Include a budge
- Address an identified issue
- Be submitted electronically
- Be received before the due date
- Include the following forms:

– OSMRE 47
- Include a statement that collected data will be accessible to the public
- Include a summary statement identifying its value to the OSMRE
