Heliponix Receives SBIR Grant for At-Home greenhouse Technology

Heliponix, LLC. is working on developing their at-home greenhouse technology. Their Grow Out Pure Produce at Home or GroPod is a smart appliance designed to help people access healthier produce while reducing water consumption and food waste. The device utilizes automated, hydroponic hardware with cloud software to enable anyone to become their own local farmer.

Recently, Heliponix became the recipient of the National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. This grant will help to expand their R&D on multispectral photomorphogenesis in rotary aeroponic cultivation chambers. This research would help to incorporate light-mediated development using a variety of spectral wavelengths with the goal of optimizing LED illumination for the plant growth. The SBIR grant offers $256, 000 in funding and opens Heliponix up to eligibility for the SBIR Phase II grant which offers $1, 000, 000 in funding..

Are you redesigning existing technology? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
