Priority is given to applicants that face significant health risks from water access restrictions including access to affordable water or waste disposal.
Funds may be used to construct storm drainage and basic drinking water and waste disposal systems and to provide grants for indoor plumbing to individual households. Funds awarded do not require matching funds but are encouraged; however, participants are usually required to borrow as much as they can afford to repay and use grant funds to cover the remaining requirements of the project. Eligible applicants can start the application process by contacting the local RD office, completing the necessary forms, and gaining required certifications. Questions should be directed to the RD office.
