Italian Startup Eggtronic Secures $10M in Series A Funding

Eggtronic, a disruptive worldwide power electronics company, has closed a Series A funding round with $10 million. This latest round brings the company’s total funding raises since 2012 to $17 million.

The Italy-based startup has been developing power electronics, wireless charging, and data over power technology and products. They intend to use the funding to develop a new integrated circuits (IC) division at the Eggtronic research laboratories as it continues along its roadmap of more efficient power transformers. This development will support their bid to move their capacitive wireless charging technology to be the new industry standard.

Currently, Eggtronic is best known for its sleek laptop chargers and stone-shaped wireless chargers. But their technology doesn’t stop there. They make various power electronics for  other brands as well as ICs for manufacturers in a B2B offering. These ICs support manufacturers as they scale for longer-term efficiencies.

The funding round followed a series of R&D demos that marked important milestones and validated the company’s ideas of wireless power and data. The demos included a capacitive wireless surface able to charge a smartphone in 2015, a TV in 2017, and two laptops connected and charged via data over power in 2020. These demos, along with their white-labelled products, serve as a direct signal to the market that Eggtronic is capable of bringing revenue that is reinvested back into R&D. This reinvestment will propel the industry forward.
